Best selling science fiction books. Why few are the best and few are not!
Best!
We seek best from everything and everyone strives for the best. Whether it is human relationships, human interactions, human dealings or work that keeps us busy and in business called life. Best is what we seek and best is what we aim for. It might happen that sometimes few of us while shooting for the stars lose the necessary acceleration and we drop off in the mid way. It can be attributed to several reasons. As a consequence of this we never reach the star that we had fixed our thoughts and imagination on.
And many #scifibooks suffer the same fate. Where the scifi author writes a scifibook with the intention to make it the best selling scifibook, but due to some reason it fails to become one. It sells and gains few fans too, but it is unable to create that roaring echo that would place it among the club of best selling scifibooks. What happens or what is the reason that few of the scifibooks do not manage to become the best selling scifibooks? They always remain in the miscellaneous category of scifibooks that the scifi readers rarely mention in their conversations or refer to.
There is definitely something going on that few of the scifibooks never achieve their place among the best and the most sought after scifibooks. They never reach that peak of popularity and suddenly after a few days from their publication date they are lost in the mire of obscurity, and become victims of a sort of unwantedness. And exactly at this point their journey to become the best selling scifibook/s abruptly comes to an end. Can this untoward end of scifibook’s journey to become the best selling #scifibook be avoided?
Let us see if it can be!
First of all think of the #scifibooks that always dominate your thoughts whenever you think of #scifi genre; and then try to determine the exact reasons that you think of these #scifibooks with such admiration and attachment.
Well, there is something common and something universally prevalent when it comes to this. Whenever we think of the scifi genre our mind is filled with the thoughts of a few scifibooks in particular. We think of them because the very thought of #scifi genre invokes in our minds details about the following:
Scifi character or characters that we love and whose personality/ies fascinate us
A new scientific idea that the scifibook had introduced us to and our mind almost always marvels at its inventiveness and its extent of ingenuity
And the scifi world that the scifibook had made seem so real and possible, not only in imagination but in reality too
And based on these points it can be established that we remember few of the scifibooks almost always and as long as we live, because of three factors:
A scifi character so brilliantly created by the scifi author that we find in him/her something very common with our own personalities. Something that makes us feel he/she is a twin representation of our own personalities, our own thoughts and scientific wonderings.
A new scientific idea that passes all our logical benchmarks and makes us wonder about it day and night
And a scifi world that we know is a creation of fiction, but it appealed to us and our scientific imagination with such a force that we always, even in the latency of our thoughts try to figure out ways that would somehow make it real and offer it that existential foundation. That cannot be questioned by any logic or scientific assessment.
For any scifibook to be able to become the best selling #scifibook, it is important to address these factors with a lot of detail. Only then the scifi author can avoid being a part of scifi misadventure. Although in scifi genre there is nothing like scifi misapprehension, because imagination is never wrong or offensive; imagination can only be scientifically plausible or implausible.
But without considering these three important factors that make a scifibook perform better than other scifibooks in terms of sales and popularity, the scifi author is definitely investing in misadventure whose outcome is obvious. That his/her scifibook will struggle to be the best selling scifibook.
The magical influence of these three factors:
The strong scifi Character almost always supports the new scientific idea and the scifi world created to support the main scientific idea in the scifibook. The entire experience is made more fascinating by the scifi character/s if the scifi readers find this character to be a part of their own native imagination. This scifi character should be able to provoke ( in positive way ) the scifi reader’s imagination not to dwell too much on the standard track of imagination. Instead dare to imagine new and outlandish ideas, where the outlandishness of the idea is always guarded by the scientific realism and logical consistencies.
And when the scifi reader experiences this renaissance within his/her mind, the scifi character is immortalised in his/her memories, and via the scifi character, the new scientific idea and the scifi world created by the scifibook attain an indestructible form in his/her mind. And all three of them leap forth whenever the scifi reader thinks of the scifi genre.
And this is what makes some of the scifibooks to perform very well and gain complete edge over the rest of the scifibooks. Because it becomes the best selling scifibook!
There is one such scifibook, where the character is so well conceived that the scifi readers believe he/she is a part of their own lives. And as you read the scifibook, the world that the scifi character lives in begins to appear real, and you are drawn into it with an unbreakable bond of close emotional association. Because the world in 2075 will be unlike what it is in 2024 and this scifi book makes you imagine it with such intensity that you begin to wonder what will become of the human race in 2075, if humans cannot emote and cannot feel! All this because they will be surrounded by self aware machines. And due to these growing interactions with synthetic intelligence bearing machines, humans would be losing their original and human-like feelings. And as a reader you are pushed deeper into the wonder of this scifibook, because you also realise it is romance based scifi. It is at this stage that the scifibook begins to intrigue you as a scifi reader.
Now you are forced to think pragmatically. If humans cannot feel or emote like humans are supposed to, how can this scifibook be a romance #scifi? You also realise that science and self aware machines can be humanity’s best friend and its means to achieve great strides in overall human progress and advancement. But it is not so!
And you begin to question what could go wrong in 2075 and how can it be corrected so that humans do not meet such a grotesque end.
The #scifibook leads you into 2075 and along with its every character you deal with the realities of 2075.
Let me end the suspense now, the #scifibook is titled: They Loved in 2075.
