Science fiction. Star colonists

Our species has been on this planet for more than 20 million years now. A very long span of time. But our time on this planet is running out, because it has entered its dark and cold stage.

The star it depended on for its light and heat is dying, and tomorrow it will fade away forever. Leaving behind just a huge ball of black dust, that will spread across the space in a few months. And then there will be no trace of it left anywhere. It will be reduced to just a memory that will illuminate often whenever we think of the bright and sunny days. A memory of 20 million years of progress and scientific excellence. It is a lot to deal with.

However, our species has acquired many skills, and our knowledge of the universe is sufficient to help us survive without any planet to embark on- For nearly a million years.

We are beginning to evacuate the now sterile planet, and tomorrow before the sun emits its last flash of light, we will have left this planet behind by nearly a million miles.  And we better hurry, because the non-existence of the sun will cause the planets, including our planet, to enter new orbits and many of them may even crash into one another. Our planet is destined to collide with a neighbouring giant planet, and three moons. When that happens only chance and factors of probability shall define whether they will combine to form a mega planet or they will disintegrate and drift endlessly in space.

It is an unavoidable fate of our planet and that of other planets and moons as well.

Our spaceships are ready, and we have designed them particularly for this event. But, we will have to leave behind many members of our species, and right now our computers are randomly picking the citizens who will join us on the new planet. As for those left behind we know their fate and they know it too. Which is not going to be any different from either the dying star or the cold and dead planet.

But there is a community of planet guardians who do not undergo this moment of extreme anxiety by letting chance define their fate and their every moment there onwards. They have already traveled to the predefined location where we will join them tomorrow. Leaving behind a dying planet and our friends and relatives too. It is a tough choice to make, but sometimes, before fate chooses for us, we have to make a choice and seek new hopes and new dreams. Only if they are worth the risk. And in our case it is worth the risk.

So, I am here to meet my friend who will not be joining me because chance proposed otherwise for him. We sat on the bench, we stood there silent, looking at the dying sun, while the birds flew in all directions. As if they knew DoomsDay was approaching, and for them there was no sky left to fly anymore.

Many of them have been falling from the sky, like a sudden shower of hailstorm on a sunny day. Our experts say it was due to their loss of sense of orientation and their confused body clocks, which largely depend on the Sun to determine direction and a sense of time. And I am sure my friend felt just like these falling birds- Directionless and more than anything else, purposeless and meaningless.

In his case fate has been too cruel and deeply insensitive, right from his birth. But he has always shown extreme courage and resistance in times of adversity. And right now too he was silent, falling like a bird, but he was thinking something crazy, something daring, something unexpectedly wild, because that is who he is at the core of his personality!

But right now, beside me, on the bench, he is just my friend, who will be left on this dying planet forever.

We did not say anything, I got up, looked at him, he looked at me, we shook hands, then with Japanese like humbleness I bowed my head, and I left him on the bench, with the dying birds, and obviously, the dying planet.

Before I entered the spaceship, I took a last look at him and then the door of the spaceship closed. He and the bench faded away and the planet too disappeared from my sight, because the authorities had decided to evacuate the planet right now. They had received information that few people who had been left out were planning to revolt. A reaction that they had anticipated.

Coming to the reaction part. It also proves my claim about the bravery and arduous nature of my friend. He somehow can deal with such situations, where he withdraws into himself and does not prefer to bother the world with whatever his emotional state might be. Because he knows half of the world does not care what becomes of you, and the remaining half wants you to undergo what you are experiencing. And he does not belong to either block of thought.

Even in this state of complete dejection and I think rejection as well, while people were crying, moaning, and grieving, he had collected 1000 birds and buried them. And those that were struggling in pain, he had stunned them by hitting them on their heads, just to ease their prolonged pain. Yet when it came to fate and chance, or should I blame providence, he was left out.

So you see, the universe has a mind that is based on a philosophy which at times defines nothing, because the person trying to comprehend the philosophy of the universe, views it as an individual. Whereas the universe never existed for an individual or one being, it exists for an infinite array of sensations. For the universe, my friend sitting on the bench is a sensation, my thoughts about him in the safety of the spaceship is a sensation too. So it is an endless gamut of sensations that is somehow trying to breed some extremely hybrid form of sensation. A compound extract of all sensations.

My friend calls it, “super sensation” and according to him, this sensation existed in Paradise. And when Man and Woman were created, they had to be ousted because they challenged this refined and purged form of sensation. Not because of the fruit they ate, but via the genetic modification they developed, which did not fit well with the beings of the Paradise, who have attained this final state of sensation after spending billions of years in understanding the end purpose of the universe. Which is the sum total of all sensations that the universe experiences; and it is the ultimate collection of all these sensations that gives rise to Paradise and the ones worthy to live there. The beings who have complete understanding of this ultimate sensation and its purpose. It is this understanding that makes them achieve advancements in all sciences that govern the main forces of the universe.”

We often used to talk about these topics, and maybe that is why he was burying the birds. According to him they too carry sensations and feelings. A frog that gets devoured by a crocodile, is also a part of the universe's stage to generate and store these sensations. Now was the frog unlucky or the crocodile was too lucky? That is a debate where a different branch of philosophy should be invented in order to address this question. Because topics of this complexity demand philosophy that does not get too carried away, whenever it does, it is checkmated by scientific reasoning. Which is not the case with conventional philosophy.

But for now, I am leaving behind every sensation associated with the dying planet, because I am moving to a planet with a living sensation and not a dying one. After all the universe does not want us dead, it wants us to live. Had it not been the case, when we were cast out from the Paradise, the Gods would not have granted us the gift of intellect. And they would not have left us on a beautiful planet where we lived happily for millions of years. And let me confess, our species carries the genes of those self aware supreme beings who live in the Paradise. It is just for us to believe in it or believe in a dying sensation and not a living sensation. I prefer to side with the universe that believes in happy and lively sensations, not the universe that is a compilation of always deplorable and mournful sensations.

And trust me, my friend thinks so too. Only that he believes in being livelier than me. And do not be mistaken by his reverie-like presence on the bench. Because when the sea is silent and calm, it is then the monstrous tempest rises and even the underworld trembles and shakes. And since I left the bench, I have been trying to understand what is he thinking?

Anyway, our spaceships have borne flights and we will be joining the planet guardians in sometime. ( They also call themselves space guardians ) The spaceship is abuzz with murmurs, gossips, cryings, laughters, it is almost like a garden, where a housefly is so confused that it has finally decided to rest on a flower and not garbage. It is so, because one spaceship has turned into a movie, that is a representation of every genre: tragedy, humour, suspense, thriller, romance….. And what not.

Romance, tragedy and humour playing out at the same time, I wonder what universe will make of such a cocktail of sensations, where you cannot tell one apart from another. So I am to believe, and pardon me for this belief, the universe sometimes gets over drunk with these sensations and begins to act less sober and more tipsy. And right now, the universe within the spaceship is acting tipsy. At least to me this is how it appears to be right now!

Therefore, I occupy a remote corner and exclude myself for sometime. Because I really want to take every guess, and somehow understand what my friend was thinking on the bench? He is someone with great ideas, that sometimes even surprised the chief guardians of the universe.

While I was caught in this imagination with no perceivable end, I heard a strong thud and then the spaceship began to lose control and got tossed in all directions. Maybe the universe wanted us to experience the sensation of birds that had fallen from the sky and struggled for long, until the bolt of death ended all their struggles. Once and for all!

The warning systems in the spaceship began buzzing in every corner, the houseflies suddenly realised they are poised on flowers and it is against their nature. And the actors in the movie; the movie about all sensations; realised, romance, humour, tragedy ….. cannot play out at the same time.

There has to be some sort of separation. Otherwise they may misrepresent life as an allegory whereas in real life nothing is allegorical, it is a terse manifestation of actualities. Where only cause and effect are the true realities. The actors in this homogenised movie of all feelings and genres, realised it along with the houseflies, and suddenly our ship began smashing other spaceships.

And this was the last announcement I heard, “ We have entered into an intense gravitational zone with an invisible matter that has jammed our engines and we are levitating in space using our thruster engines. We are trying to resolve the problem but it may take very long. So, please be patient and we are in touch with our chief guardians, who are working on a solution.”

It has been 1 year and we are still locked in this zone. We have an endless supply of food resources but there is  bad news. This strange matter that our chief guardians are trying to understand, is corroding the blades of the engines and in next 16 months the blades will disintegrate. Then we will be caught in the darkness and most likely hit by a drifting meteor or something. Finally we too will become a part of the universe’s ultimate sensation.

It was our 14th month in this zone of the universe, when our spaceship received a short transmission: You are drifting towards a Black Hole. Chief guardians miscalculated the escape route and placed the spaceships in the influence zone of the largest blackhole in this galaxy. I am Hanfeil, I want you to let my friend Jacob take control of the spaceship, and I will help you. Let me know.”

In a second everyone began looking for me and all of a sudden, now I began feeling like a housefly destined to sit on a flower. Oh my God!

So he was definitely thinking something when he was silent on the bench. I knew it.

I was directed to the command ship where the chief guardians managed the entire fleet of spaceships. When they saw me they offered me a system where I was supposed to communicate with my friend and then direct the guardians.

And these are his relays of communication:

“You are in a zone where outer rings of the black hole generate plasma and very strong gravity. Plus the secret matter, has a unique property, the electrons in this matter are naughty ( that is all I will tell you ) and being naughty, you see them, yet you do not see them, so they boost propulsion engine and at the same time they seize it as well after 20 seconds. And in these constant cycles of ignition and instant lock, the blades/shafts of the engine are corroding and your main turbo booster is disintegrating.

Please try this first.

The plasma always sprays outwards as jets or streams, and it is around these streams of plasma that this matter forms a cloud of naughty electrons. Fortunately none of your ships is in the middle of these streams. You are on the outer boundary of these streams, where the concentration of these naughty electrons is low.

You need to tilt all spaceships by 60 degrees, and align the booster engines with spare engines ( all 4 of them ) and shut down engines after having travelled for 7 seconds. Repeat this 10 times and you shall be able to free yourself from the grip of this strange matter. Any ship that fails to shut down the engines in 7 seconds because the engines got locked by this matter before 7 seconds or later than 7 seconds. Will have to repeat this action as many times as they fail to manually shut down the engines without the interference from this strange matter.”

I look at the chief guardians, and they pass on the instructions to other spaceships. We all followed this instruction and in 1 minute and 30 seconds we had managed to travel outside this ring of mysterious forces.

But our engines had weakened and their durability was no more reliable to sustain our journey into the future. We communicated it to Hanfeil, and this was his reply,

“Sometimes you need to have faith and trust the sensation of the universe. Because replacing engines in mid space is almost impossible. But, I am surprised chief guardians have forgotten that the tail end of these spaceships comes with engines based on atom splitting technology and these engines should be enough to take you into the future. Please ask Mathew or Dhruv, to provide you the right sequence to activate these engines.

Moreover, these engines should be operated with selective atom splitting, depending on the drag offered by the space that you are entering. Which keeps changing as you traverse through different zones of the universe.”

Dhruv activated the engines and we flew to our new planet. And when we landed there, Hanfeil was already there!

I did not ask him how. I just went and hugged my friend. The rest of them asked him how, but none of them understood his answer. Only I did, “The Ultimate sensation of the Universe rescued me. And I rescued the rest of us. All those who were left behind to die.”

“What!” was their reaction.

I smiled, and we went to his new place, his new home. Where we talk a lot about the sensation of the universe and his naughty electrons. Our species has now occupied this planet. Occupied is the right word, because our species only knows to occupy, we do not know how to settle and live with the surroundings. We are obsessed with making the surroundings live according to us. That is why, we have not been able to evolve like the species that rescued Hanfeil. And according to him, they can even terrafarm galaxies, leave alone planets. Because in the end the entire universe is all about few forces, but infinite mystery surrounds them, because these forces behave differently in different zones of the universe. Thus altering the nature of matter or particles that behave in a certain way in a particular zone of the universe, and behave very differently in another zone of the universe.

The supreme beings who rescued him have taught Hanfeil some facts about these forces and how they vary in different regions of the universe.

To know more about these facts and about the knowledge shared with him by this super intelligent species, please explore the science fiction novel, They Loved in 2075.

It has nothing to do with my story. They Loved in 2075, is an intense romance science fiction which deals more with Hanfeil and the one whom he loves a lot. But on this planet, our species is experiencing a new form of evolution. That of our emotions and feelings. Because the chief guardians decided to exploit this planet too and invested heavily in thoughtless development of self aware and intelligent machines without thinking how it will impact our psychology, emotions, feelings and the evolution of our societies. And in the midst of this, Hanfeil loves someone deeply, but the machines have risen against him, and once again he believes in the supreme sensation. But this time a different sensation. To find out more about Hanfeil and his romance, please read the scifi novel, They Loved in 2075.

Will the supreme sensation rescue him this time too, or he himself will become supreme? The mystery can only be revealed in the scifi novel, They Loved in 2075.

Science fiction. The magical sand

Science fiction. The magical sand

This place is barren, lifeless, primitive; and when you look at it from a distance it looks like the abode of nothingness, a sort of invasive emptiness that is filled with everything, but hope! They call it the Desert Planet.

And there is something very special about this planet. No matter where you are, and then in whichever direction you might look, you always feel you are in the middle of a continuously building pattern of sand and its invasive inevitability. Where if you enter once, you are there forever, as if you were a grain of sand desperately trying to identify your companion grain of sand, blown away by the wind, that has total control over defining this landscape of dunes. That landscape keeps changing, because sand grains possess no force whatsoever to bind with other sand grains.

Universe did not gift us with water, but it gifted us magical sand that behaves like water.

And it is in this landscape of perpetual turbulence that our civilisation thrives and manufactures hopes in abundance. To the rest of the Universe dwellers we are the desert masters, who can grow life where life actually quits. Because its will and hardiness declines to adapt. And we do not feel burdened by its challenges and indifference, that comes with a selective harshness, with a propensity to target the survivor. You , me and everybody!

Because the planets of sand exist to support just one life-form, that of sand, wherever you see, it is the only life form. Because it moves continuously. And one of the chief traits that distinguishes a living thing from a non living thing is the trait of locomotion. If it is so, then does it not make sand an unconquerable life form of the desert? Because it shifts continuously, day and night.

But it is needless to say that it is different from trees, because they cannot move, and they produce oxygen the only known elixir of life. Although sand does not produce oxygen, it displays tree like behaviour. The sand dunes grow and the sand is always shifting. Without it there will be no rain. It is due to deserts that the rest of the world receives rain, yet it chooses to stay dry and parched itself, because it has a duty to perform, assigned to it by the Universe. Desert is sacrificing and giving in nature and so are the desert people. A natural inheritance I suppose.

Therefore, sand has all properties of any life form, but we the desert people know, it cannot replace the shade of trees, the cool breeze of the oasis, yet, it is essential if the universe has to survive. This is why we have found ways to live with the sand and it is our most abundant and most valuable resource.

Our elders developed several technologies that use sand to generate energy. And on the desert planet we have a famous saying, “never build your home on a sand dune, because it loves the wind more than anything else!”

It is from this saying we have learned our life’s most essential lessons and the secrets of sand centric technologies. When we first landed on this planet, we fell in love with it and we made it our home. Slowly we learned to use its disadvantages to our advantage; and we created marvels of scientific innovation simply by using sand, since it was the most abundant and easily available resource.

The problem with most of the thinking beings who occupy other planets, is that they tend to exploit the resources that are least available. At a certain point their over exploitation leads to their extinction. And at this point the thinking quotient of that planet is at its maximum innovative output, unable to think beyond the already in use energy resources that fulfil their daily supply of energy related needs. And when this happens, a civilisation attains a saturation point in its innovative thinking. But if a civilisation uses most abundantly and easily available resources to generate power/energy, then this limitation that has haunted every civilisation since the first intelligent life form appeared in the universe, can be overcome.

With settled and non nomadic living, a civilisation makes maximum use of every resource available. There is prosperity, which leads to innovation, and development of many sciences and art forms. But this civilisation is busy believing that it is progressing and as such it ignores the underlying fact that is constantly working against this graph of progress. Mostly so, when the progress is based on exploitation of resources that are rare.

We, the desert people, have heard about many great civilisations on the now endangered planet called Earth, where many civilisations emerged, achieved pinnacle in art, culture, science; and then suddenly disappeared. As if some force wiped them off.

However, there is something very common in all of these civilisations. ( We the desert people often refer to Earth in our examples because this planet is envied by the entire Universe, for its abundance of valuable resources. But it is inhabited by a race of intelligent life form, that has reached its maximum output of innovative thinking, and is now struggling to deal with the undercurrent of colossal forces, we refer to as conscience of the Universe, that is trying to stall this progress, because it is more destructive than being conservative in nature. It has left the Earth bruised. To the extent that it has nothing left to offer.)

So what are they doing wrong?

Look at the great Egyptian civilisation, Mayan civilisation, Harappan civilisation, Mesopotamian and Sumarian civilisation ( from where major religions of the world appeared ) they have all vanished. And today there is nothing. Just a vast desert. And where there is desert there is sand. So, sand is still there. And that is where we come into the forefront of innovative science. Sand has taught us many things, and the most wonderful and secretive facts of life.

Soil nourishes as does water. But sand never steals, it never hides, whatever gets buried in it, it leaves it there, undisturbed and untouched by time. As long as wind does not blow. If it does, it only shifts it to another corner, but the integrity of that thing that is buried in the sand stays constant.

This is why sand bred a flower as beautiful as Desert Rose. It grows in sand, which many believe is useless, but if you look at the universe, the Dark Matter possesses the nature of sand and wind. ( It is a great secret of the Universe. So, much cannot be revealed about it now!)

Without the desert, lush green forests cannot exist. That is why, we the desert people have another famous saying that goes something like this, “The desert rose is so beautiful, because it is God’s expression of beauty. When God feels disgruntled with the rest of the Universe, that time the only particle of beauty left in God seeks the form of Desert Rose. As it blooms, it makes God happy again and the Universe does not end. So the Universe owes a lot to the Desert Rose and the desert people.”

Nobody can deny this fact, but there are a few who may, because they do not know that a thing like desert rose exists. Thanks to Mr. Sting, who composed the song, “Desert Rose” and made it popular on Earth. So, there is intelligent life there too, that truly thinks about innovation the way it ought to be thought.

Here is the famous song by Sting, titled : The Desert Rose. It certainly dilutes the desert fatigue, if at all there is anything like desert fatigue.

Song desert rose

So what should civilisations do in order to cope better with these underlying and continuously counteracting forces that try to stall human progress? Which of course becomes predominant if the course of progress is defined by exploiting natural resources of the planet that are rare and non-replenishable. The answer lies in a few simple examples that I shall share from the vast list of innovations we have developed on the desert planet simply by using sand. The magical sand, maybe that is why the ancient people used it to define time.

I- Power generation via Sand grids

Water has a unique quality. Its liquid form and its ability to assume the shape of the object it is directed in or towards. Haa haaa. But then, sand too has the same property, almost like liquid, but only in a different form. So if intelligent beings use their wit, it can be used to generate power, and far more effectively than water. Plus sand has more weight and it flows like water too. In addition to this, it does not lead to floods, if managed well.

We have never experienced sand floods on our planet, but yes, few of our silly engineers did cause sand bursts and sand blasts too. But their magnitude of destruction was lesser than water caused disasters.

On Earth there is the Sahara Desert, and in India they say there is the famous Thar desert. A great source of energy lying there, just waiting for someone to put it to use.

We have a similar desert here too, only that our planet is 60% desert. We did not convert it into a desert, the alignment of our planet is such that 60% of it is desert.

So, one of our wise and eccentric innovators developed a wonderful power grid using sand. In the centre there is the main grid, with a massive dynamo that generates electricity. But to move the dynamo she needed some force. And water was not an option because our planet does not have it in surplus. So, she developed a low lying ground which is huge. On the left , at a higher elevation it has an enormous sand dune, and on the right side too it has a sand dune, but it is not filled with sand.

Now for better and easy understanding allow me to change the tense of my sentences.

Via the left dune, using massive steel tunnels she channels sand in the dynamo grid, its force rotates the grid, and the sand escapes towards the right which has a steep drop. The grid uses 5% of electricity to lift this sand and deposit it on the sand dune on the right.

Which then, via sensors, detects that the volume of sand in the left grid is very low, and it adjusts its elevation with flawless and precision calculation based geometric orientation, and flushes this sand back into the grid, which now gets collected in the left sand dune. It works on the seesaw principle.

It is a wonder of modern science among all interplanetary power generation techniques. And there are no guesses about it.

You cannot do it with soil. So sand is magical. Correct?

All it needs is will, and political mood to use the right resources without putting any pressure on the planet. And our planet too has several tribes, and our planet too has countries, but each country specialises in something unique based on its geography and availability of resources. For example our vegetables come from a tribe that lives in the north part of the planet. And we have dedicated many power grids to meet their energy needs. A perfect coexistence.

II- Power generation via sand grain blasting

It is based on the simple principle of kinetic energy and one important law of physics, “every action has an equal and opposite reaction!”

Have you ever played squash?

Watch it on youtube if you haven't played it.

It is a simple game where two people hit a rubber ball against a hard wall with their rackets. The force is very intense.

Now imagine the wall has mini dynamos attached to it, which with slightest pressure generate current. And every time a ball hits them, these mini dynamos generate current, which is stored in a transformer and then channeled to various sources.

One of our energy development engineers likes squash and he once had this idea about using it to generate power. And he implemented it, only that he replaced the squash ball with sand grains.

Very simple method and design.

A wall with inbuilt mini dynamos which are impact sensitive. Now you might say, this scientist is delusional because dynamos need a lot of pressure to generate charge. Not really. Have you ever touched a leaf of  the touch-me -not plant? With your slightest touch it activates its reflexive action and its leaves fold. The wall mounted mini dynamos are based on the same logic.

This wall is bombarded with sand grains, and it creates an enormous amount of charge which is stored in batteries and then channeled to different sources. The sand never collects in the room, it pours through the cone like surface and then the same sand is recycled to bombard the wall with micro dynamos. Again and again, till eternity. Because on our planet, if a grid generates e.g. 340 Megawatts of power, we always use 10 to 15% of this power to satisfy the energy needs of the grid for it to be able to generate a continuous supply of energy. Thus, they can go on forever. But can you do this with water, not really!

I am sure you are already thinking, since when did the desert people become intelligent? I guess we do not show it, because we are lovers of desert roses. Shy like it, but resilient and beautiful like it as well. Only that you need to be willing to dare the harshness of the desert in order to witness the desert rose in its full bloom. I am sure it will leave you charmed and spell bound.

III- Sand and tectonic plates based energy

This is again a unique design. We thought about it when we read about the tectonic plates and their movement.

It is based on the principle of pressure.

There is a huge pillar, with super efficient and super strong springs, on it rests a huge fan with four blades. Which are super sized blades. We direct sand flow on these blades, and the weight of sand puts pressure on springs, which in turn exerts pressure on the dynamo, making it rotate and generate energy. Which is stored and transmitted. Again, as the blades reach the maximum point of pressure, the sensors slide the electromagnetically locked gaps in these blades. And the sand falls into the collection areas that circulate it back to the channels, where it gets redirected into these blades. This procedure may lead to loss of sand. However, this is again measured by sensors, and the lost sand is replenished by sand directed via the desert.

Recently we have replaced the blades with new blades that tilt and pour the sand in the collection area.

We have many other models of energy generation grids that make the best use of sand. I have come across an innovation which if implemented, a planet will have zero dependency on perishable sources of energy and these energy hubs will have zero carbon footprint.

And today, the desert planet pioneers in energy production that powers hopes and a pollution free planet. Even our cars run on batteries that self recharge. There is no need for an external charging point. It has been my pet project and I am still working on its fine tuning. But this is one of my bravest ideas and it will create ripples in the energy sector which is undergoing a metamorphosis. That is much needed at this stage. If planets like Earth want to exist beyond another century.

Also, foods and vegetables that grow in the desert are what makes my love for botany very exclusive. A genetic marvel that does not tamper with anything, except one thing, human genius.

To know more about similar innovations, technology, refer to the science fiction novel, They Loved in 2075.

And there are a few things humans should never re-engineer. Human feelings and emotion of love, because if they do, the possibilities highlighted in the science fiction novel They Loved in 2075, will come true. And trust me, nobody would like to live in the world that will come into existence due to these ill thought and flawed changes designed to milk the human genome.

It is a romance science fiction novel that will make you believe in the desert, in the desert rose, and in the beauty of untempered human feelings. Which will be the main struggle of humanity in 2075. When it will be interacting with self aware machines, and competing with them at following levels:

A- Intelligence transition shifts taking place

B- Super paced evolution of human emotions and social structures

Because a smart looking and always humorous humanoid can woo and impress anyone. Cant it! But then it will do it just for the sake of it and for the sake of its masters. And when real emotions mate with artificially generated emotions, it will lead to a new emotional sensation, that will benefit artificially intelligent machines, but it will destroy the original and fundamental makeup of the human genome that is responsible for developing human feelings and emotions.

To develop a better understanding of this topic please read about Epigenetics.

Epigenetics

And to know about the world that may be a reality in 2075. Please read the science fiction novel, They Loved in 2075.

PS. In 2075, a true energy efficient country will be the one, where every physical action or every human activity, generates energy. Because the need for energy will have skyrocketed by then, but the current resources that we use to generate energy, will have reached their lowest level. And it is at this point, we will have to decide which route we wish to take. The one taken by the great civilisations that time devoured and destroyed or the one that is followed by the humble desert people. Who have the humblest and the most beautiful looking rose growing in their part of the planet.

The desert rose growing in the magical sand!

Science fiction. The restorer

She had just arrived when I heard the car honking loudly. It was early morning and except her voice everything else sounded irritating and displeasing. And right now the continuous honking was ruining my morning, and I left my bed with the resolve to silence the car and cease the restlessness of the person driving it.

I put on my robe and I dared the freezing cold, and in less than a minute I was standing in front of this person. The moment he saw me he stopped honking and bent his head, less in shame and more in an attempt to escape without being noticed by me, and my raging friend who too had joined me. The moment he saw both of us approaching his car, he acted a bit awkwardly.

I placed my hand on his steering and then with a steely gaze I looked into his eyes. He instantly stopped the engine of his car.

Now, I was sure he would not try to run away because it was a complex crossing where 6 lanes intersected. And to get to any one of them, he would first have to make his way through the incoming traffic, then gain a thief’s speed which was most improbable. Moreover, he had jumped the traffic signal and to avoid getting stuck in the incoming traffic he had parked his car in the reserve area. Defined for vehicles that breakdown or jump the signal. And he was there waiting for the traffic light in the reserve parking area to coincide with the green light of the lane that he was supposed to enter.

But right now I did not want to chase him. Because I already had seized the steering of his car and he immediately knew something was not right.

He politely opened the door of his car and asked me to pardon him. Even though I had not accused him of anything yet. I had not even mentioned about his loud honking that had transformed the entire neighbourhood into a driving training institute where honking at will is permitted and necessary as well.

Maybe he had lost his patience, which triggered his uncalled for honking at a place where traffic moves based on sophisticated traffic lights. And sometimes it may happen that a lane may get to witness a green light after 10 minutes. And waiting here in your super fast car for 10 minutes demands a lot of patience.

And this person definitely had the lowest reserves of this quality.

So, before I lost mine, and it was most likely, because he had ruined my lazy affair with the morning that continues until I am not ready for office. Because once I am in that frame of mind, where office and daily tasks seek the precedence over everything else, I tend to move very fast. This is why I prefer, not per say a lazy morning. But a morning that flows at my wish, which can be faster than most of the people, but it has to be based on the willingness of my mind to adjust in the morning. And his unnecessary and loud honking had disturbed this pace of my morning and that of my friend. Who had just stepped into my room.

Now he had to deal with the fury of two irritated souls early in the morning. A bad start to our day and not at all a grand start to his day either. So, we had something in common at least.

He seemed to know our reason to stop him and he also offered a well worded apology, that only someone well educated and with a good social background could formulate. And it was his style to express it that stood out and impressed both of us. We were about to ask him what led him to act so differently when he was honking ceaselessly. The traffic light turned green and now we were blocking his car, and it was blocking every other car behind it. And the honking began to grow louder and louder, so I slowly eased the grip of my hand on his steering and he stepped into his car, and he wished both of us “Good Day” in his polished mannerism. Then he turned his steering to the left, and as he pressed the accelerator he disappeared from our view. There were all other cars, even the one that stood right next to his, but he and his car could not be found anywhere.

My friend looked at me and I gapingly looked at her. I held her hand and we both walked towards our room. But, before we could enter our place we turned around, visually verified all six lanes and there was no clue that could suggest anything about his disappearance. His disappearance could still be justified, but the disappearance of something as solid and as big as a car with a hardtop, stood out like a question mark to which neither of us had any answer. We were still so puzzled that we were finding it difficult to come to terms with what we had just witnessed.

We sat on the steps that led to our room and watched the movement of traffic. And every car that went past us, we were trying to locate the car of the stranger and the stranger inside the car, we were still dealing with the amazement, when she held the sleeves of my shirt and asked me to get up.

With a frowning look, a lost appearance and eyes that were unwilling to rotate away from the movement of traffic at the junction of 6 crossings. I finally let the stranger and his thoughts reside at the traffic light, because I did not wish to carry him inside my room. So, I walked away with her because I wanted to be with her and her thoughts, and not with someone who had made my morning deplorable.

We entered the room, and before she could go to bed and complete her sleep, she stood beside me at the window still trying to understand how the car and the driver had vanished right before our eyes. There was no reasonable explanation for this, so we decided to sleep and not sleep over it.

It was still too early because it was only 04:00 am, and I had an hour and half more to rest. Only rest, because sleeping was out of question. I closed my eyes, pretended to sleep, thought about nothing, while my nostrils rhythmically filled in and filled out breaths bearing traces of her scent. And with this sensation I tried to rest.

She rolled towards me and asked me in her sleeping state, “You too should try and sleep, we have a long journey ahead of us!”

With my eyes still closed, but mind completely awake I responded by clasping my hand against hers tenderly, and I too tried to sleep.

At 07:00 am we both were almost ready and we moved towards the garage. I entered first, and she followed me.

“No! This is impossible. It is his car and he too is there in the driver's seat. No, this cannot be.”

She was definitely shocked and her reaction made complete sense, and it was good she reacted with such a strong vocal expression. It allowed my conscious awareness to recognise the reality and not feel similarly shocked. So, I held her in my arms and comforted her. Then with fear, blended with curiosity and shock that was growing in its possession of our minds. We walked towards the driver’s door. He indeed was there and this was his car. But he was not moving at all.

I slowly held the nicely crafted silver handle of the door, and pulled it with force that does not pull or push, but allows the mechanical soul of the gadget ( in this case the handle of the door ) to dictate the flow of the force. And my hand instantly understood that the button on the handle needs to be pushed tenderly and then if I pull the door outwards, with light force, it shall open. I did exactly so and the door too did not disappoint me.

But now came the most difficult part because I was not dealing with the silver handle. I was dealing with a person who has a soul, feelings and a sense of being with a conscience. That is what I think about every human being and I thought the same about him too. So, I lifted my right hand, folded all my fingers, except my index and middle finger and I placed them on his neck below the ear lobe. There was a pulse, I could feel the palpitation and warmth as well.

I smiled and she smiled as well, because she had already sensed what I had felt, when I had placed my fingers on his neck.

However, he was not moving. Everything appeared to be normal with him, but except his heart nothing was moving. We both were confused, and together we tried to understand how we could wake him up.

Then, her funny bone tickled a bit, and whenever that happens nothing can stop her, and it always seems to work. So, I am the last one to stop her, which has never happened so far and I had no reason to act otherwise in this moment.

She initiated the engine of the car, and began honking incessantly. And the stranger woke up with a loud reaction, “ Who is this? Please stop it, it is too loud and too damn disturbing. You woke me up from a beautiful dream.”

The stranger saw us, we smiled, he smiled, we greeted him and he greeted us, and said, “ I owed you a proper apology and a true apology is never complete unless one has understood what the other person has undergone. And on our planet, we say: the soul wanders till eternity, unless you do not feel yourself what you made someone else feel due to your actions or emotional oral expressions.

We both were listening to him like the believers in the congregation who are spell bound by the sermon of a holy man. And right now, he was the holy man and we were his congregation. Whom he further impressed with these words.

"So, we are even now! Because you too woke me up by honking and breaking my dream.”

We both had never laughed as much as we did with him, when he said these words, and he too laughed with us. We invited him for breakfast which he ate with delight and complete pleasure; and then he threw another surprise at us, “I know you are traveling to meet someone tomorrow and it is a long trip. It is not less than 700 miles. I can drop you there in one second and once you are done, I will bring you back.”

“What?” This was my reaction.

“How?” This was her reaction.

He was very clever and answered instantly, “ There is no need to answer “What” aspect. It is already understood. Understanding “How,” that is my secret. But on my planet my job is restoration- Planet restoration to be specific. And your planet is dying so we had come to check if it can be restored to normal. There is hope, if you all act now. But it will one day die, that is certain. Maybe sooner than what was meant to be. Nevertheless, restoring it now will do all humans good.

Because of my job profile, I and my machine are designed to travel very fast. So fast that when you winked your eyes at the 6 crossings junction, you thought I had disappeared. I had not. I had just traveled very fast that your naked eyes could not understand the time lapse that occurred between the winking of your eyes and my machine’s ability to gain top speed just in a fraction of nano second.

So I am not a magician and aliens are not fiendish at all. We too are human-like. May not be so in our physical appearance, but when it comes to emotions we are more sensitive.

Anyway, have you thought about it and are you ready to experience how it feels to cover 700 miles in a second?”

We both wanted to experience it. Who would not!

We boarded his car and in a second we were where we were supposed to be. And exactly at the place where we were meant to be.

Next day we finished our meeting. And after two days he was waiting for us, and once again in a second we were in our room.

Now it was time for him to submit his report to the committee of the universe restorers. He got into his car, we said our good byes, and once again in a second he had vanished, this time in the sky somewhere. We looked at the sky for a minute. Then as we strolled back to our room, we found a note on the table.

To know more about the note, and how Universe Restorers want us to restore Earth, please check the science fiction novel, They Loved in 2075. It is a romance science fiction, inspired by my meeting with a stranger from a different planet. Who taught me how to care for our own planet. For more details explore the science fiction novel, They loved in 2075. Which defines via a brilliantly conceived story how human emotions will evolve in 2075 along with many other facts. That will leave you as amazed as I was when I saw the stranger vanish.
