A rope with only two ends!

A rope with only two ends!

Before I proceed with this blog post, please allow me to share a quote by Mr. Ludwig Wittingenstein: The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.

And when it comes to Global Warming and Climate Change, we are limiting the world of positive change by using the wrong language. Language that is unable to address the threats of Climate Change and generate global impetus to tackle these threats with right political policies and adequate political will.

Just like a straight line, a rope will always have only two ends. No matter into how many parts we cut the rope, each piece will always have only two ends. But in 2023 many businesses, politicians fail to realise this simple fact.

As a direct consequence of this ignorance, many countries believe a rope has multiple ends and each country has the right to find his/her own end, and start pulling it towards his/her nucleus of interests, while others are desperately trying to pull the rope towards their central point of interests. As a result of this multiple point based tugging of the rope, it loses its windings and becomes loose and thin, finally snapping into small bits, making it unfit for anything.

And in 2023, discussions on Climate Change and Global Warming are very similar to this analogy of the rope being tugged from every angle. Because there are many countries still unwilling to accept the fact that Global warming is an imminent threat to our species. Because the rise in Global temperatures is making it unbearable for most of the world Population in 2023.

If the trends in Global Warming and Climate Change are not managed with immediate effect, it is predicted that heat waves will become an annual event by 2075. This will be bad news for everybody. Then it will be normal to experience a global rise in temperatures by 3C in 20 years, whereas in some parts of the world it will be 5C in 20 years. Many experts believe this might be a reality by 2050 if we are not making sincere efforts to control Global Warming and Climate Change.

Heat waves across Europe and America

The only silver bullet to achieve the right and much needed change is only possible through quick, concentrated, focused and well defined effort by all countries. Where we might even have to form an organisation dedicated to tackling and defining policies to control Climate Change. This means creating a global fund to address these menaces.

When it comes to disbursement or allocation of funds, we will have to make sure that the end of the rope that a country is supposed to hold on to is predefined.

But it is not as simple as this. For example, the European Union comprises many countries. And not all countries are doing very well economically. Spain is an ideal case study when it comes to this. So should they as a country be expected to contribute to this climate fund at par with countries that are doing very well e.g. Germany.

I think that will be unjust!

At the same time there are many countries who want to phase out use of fossil fuels by 2050. Then how will the countries whose economy was supported only by oil exports survive? I think this is where we are entering into a direct conflict with many countries, as a result, the rope i.e. the Climate Change and Global Warming is grabbed by every country at whichever end the country pleases to.

As a result of this, the outcome is right before us: Europe is experiencing intense heat waves, Americans are suffering due to severe heat waves, Asians are experiencing unbearable spells of heat, leave alone the people of UAE and the African nations. Given that we are political snobs, we think they somehow can withstand any onslaught of heat, because they are super humans designed to suffer political and economic persecution. And now that of the Sun too.

It is also true, that when oil economies were booming, the oil producing nations received infinite money from the USA, Europe and Asia, but it seems they lacked foresight, and they were unable to diversify and invest in futuristic technologies that would have easily bailed them out of these desperate acts to revive their economies in 2023. Which is not possible at least for a few decades no matter how hard they try now. So learning from the past and moving ahead with a positive approach is the only way forward. And yes, investing in science and technology based enterprises is what can generate a sustainable growth ecosystem in countries like UAE, Qatar, Oman, South Africa, Ghana and many other countries.

We still use diamonds from Africa, but now it is time to return some shine and brilliance of these diamonds to these nations and help them grow their economies, by investing in sectors that have potential of rapid growth. And working based on a well defined plan is essential for achieving these goals if we are to avoid a global anarchy. Which I see already gazing at us, if we do not change our attitude towards Global Warming and Climate change.

And the situational wisdom demands the following:

UAE and other countries in the Arabian Peninsula are not fairing that well when it comes to computer science related technologies, and other futuristic technologies like: Robotics, BioEngineering, Precision engineering, Genetics, IOT, Nano Tech, Development of smart cities etc. etc. They will have to make investments in order to prepare an IT aware generation of men and women. And this is going to take time. But as a quick fix to help UAE and other countries achieve self sufficiency. They should be offered support to take advantage of their location on the equator.

They have the potential to be the solar power generation grids for the world. Where we can easily develop technology to transfer power wirelessly. Also, cultivation of dates has a lot of potential because it is one of the safest and healthiest forms of sugar.

There is so much, countries can do to help one another.

But without appearing biased myself, let me also focus a bit on Spain. Spain has been a great and grand country of explorers, men and women with exceptional valour, that we all can vouch for. They have been a magnificent civilisation and the world shall remain indebted to them as long as human species exists. But they appear to be struggling to come out of their economic depression, and it breaks my heart to see them working and investing so many hours, to make their country, I would not say great again, because it is already great. It has the same Spanish men and Spanish women who epitomise greatness in many ways; so they want to make the country economically vibrant because they are already great!

But how, how?

Spain, if you look at its geographic positioning, is at an advantage compared to other European countries. It could be the leading supplier of organically grown food grains, fruit and vegetables. I recently read a story about two Spanish sisters, who were growing a native variety of wheat and producing flour ground in water run mills. And it had generated tremendous demand.

Moreover, Spain also has an IT aware generation of men and women, the government will have to invest in IT incubating hubs where they work on future technologies. For example developing solar batteries that even in cloudy conditions are able to store lot of solar power. Please do not ask me how, or do not tell me Mr. Musk is already working on it. And it is this reality that makes science based chases so appealing and thrilling. The Spanish men and women have it in them, they just need an ecosystem to accomplish it. The world is now set to adopt electric vehicles, flying cars etc. and Spain is famous for manufacturing automobile body parts, it could easily put this expertise to use and start investing in the future of body parts for these future modes of transport.

And please do not forget that spacesuits were invented in Spain. So they have the curiosity, they have the scientific awareness too, they lack the right political will to transform the nation into the superpower of innovations and begin thinking outside the box.

Let us admit it, Spain’s climate, and its topography with picturesque sights make it an ideal location for tourism. But they seem to be relying on conventional modes of attracting foreign tourists. There is no innovation and maybe it is the tourism ministry that should be blamed, because whenever I open my TV or Computer I see ads from countries like : Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland, Australia, America, but I have never seen ads from Spain, trying to lure international tourists.

The fire is missing. And when you want to achieve economic zenith a little bit of madness is needed, that for some reason is missing completely.

The Spanish need to put their explorer’s instincts at work; and I am sure, they will be a global force to reckon with.

It is time that we all work together and find solutions which would work for all, only then we shall be able to develop a long term solution. Ah haa, let us not miss the main fact, which makes Spanish people a bit unique, they have a great explorer gene in them. Now is the time to become explorers of the skies and seek ethical business opportunities that lie beyond the stars.

Spain has the infrastructure and the generation of men and women who can achieve it. Unlike UAE and other countries that lack this skilled workforce. But that doesn't mean Arabs do not have the genes that could offer them unique advantages as well, they too possess a great gene which somehow has turned dormant. It was the Arabs who refined and largely redefined the art of astronomy and surgery, but then, when the oil boom happened they gave up every adventure, leave alone exploring the skies.

It is a fact, and it is always good to do an honest introspection and move ahead with renewed gusto and the will that aims for the stars. They have tremendous potential, they just need to find ways to tap it and then work towards it with an unwavering focus.

So, with right policies and joint efforts every country can play its role, its right and not too stressful role. And that also means, if the USA and other countries like Germany are doing very well economically, we should not expect them alone to bear the responsibility of being the change initiators. That too would be unjust because it will put tremendous pressure on their resources, and this may deprive their populations of many things essential for survival, or leading a good lifestyle.

A well balanced, less biased, equanimity promoting approach is what will solve the problem. Unless we adopt this approach we will always end up like the rope analogy I cited above.

But my worry has always been the African continent that somehow we always tend to ignore. These countries have endless potential because they possess countless wealth of resources, which with the right approach can boost their economies. The right approach here is being innovative, I say it often and I reiterate it once again.

Africa is rich in wildlife and there are many scientists who visit African Savannah to conduct their scientific studies. The Global community of scientists need to set up centres across the high potential countries in Africa and offer them funds to facilitate guided and highly organised scientific tours for scientific observations. I am sure it is being done, but in the current setup only few people benefit from such ventures.

A well thought program should benefit the entire community, not just a handful of people, then it loses its main goal, that is to promote common and general goodwill.

I believe anything is possible if we want to do it, and there is no other option, because with technologies of the future we are bound to evolve as a global community with only few distinctions. Like : men and women, educated and skilled. Because other distinctions will have lost their meaning over the course of time. And most of us will be a part of something like “Global Culture.” where each one of us contributes to its beauty, but without losing our own identities or individuality. Because I would like the Spanish to always be the Spanish, same for the Arab, Americans, Germans, Indians, these identities are important, otherwise the world will be a boring place to exist in.

It is as simple as this fact. Universe is infinite, with an endless number of planets, stars, galaxies and other celestial bodies, yet it works towards a single purpose with a consistency that is exceptionally accurate.

Being a part of this universe, we too should adopt the same objectivity in our purpose, and then we shall be able to overcome anything, leave alone Global Warming and Climate Change. We will even know the end of the universe where even light has not reached yet. That is the power of working on goals which strive for the good of all.

And let us not forget that all rising to great places is by a winding stair. And if humans are to rise to the greatest place, let us be prepared to work our way up by stairs that are crooked, narrow and sharply winding. Nevertheless, let us have faith that it will always wind towards the stars!

For countries like Spain, Italy, Greece, Hong Kong, Ukraine, Colombia, and countries in the African countries and Arabian Peninsula, the stair may pose its challenges as we begin to ascend it, but they will have to use their primitive basic instincts and rely on their hardy side to scale every next step on this stair, and I'm sure, they will reach the star that shines exclusively for them.

It will be good to realise that for the star to be able to shine, it must burn, and burn a lot ceaselessly. It is all the matter of that first step and then believing in the journey, as long as we can do this, there shall be nothing to prevent humanity from this ascension, because we deserve it.

We have hoped enough, wished long, now it is time to act and move ahead. Because hope is a good breakfast, but it is a bad supper. And our mistake lies in taking the hope with us even to our bed. Hoping that someone will act, and never making the effort to act ourselves. It is procrastination that always seeks refuge within a fatal feeling of complacency. And politicians, policy makers, global influencers, business owners need to wake up from this slumber and act, and act now.

If for nothing and nobody, we owe it to the real inheritors of the Earth and the Universe. Our future generations, our children. The only hope of human species, in the years to come. Therefore, let us toil day and night to seek this goal, these shall be our labours of love and let us not be intimidated by anything, because children sweeten labours, but they make misfortunes more bitter. And there cannot be any greater misfortune than passing on to them the world with an uncertain future. Because if by 2050 temperatures are expected to rise by 5C and in extreme cases by a lot more, then we indeed are  investing into the future of misfortunes.

Now are you willing to be the grandfather or father of a child, who is forced to live in the midst of this misfortune?

Please answer this question as you conclude reading this blog post and I am sure the stair to the stars will either reveal itself to us or it will hide behind our arrogance and political snobbishness. But I am somebody who likes to believe in hoping for something at breakfast. This makes me an optimist who knows an important fact: For stars to be able to shine, they ought to burn!

And when it comes to children, the future generations of human species; they shine through our burning process. And when it is their time, they too shall not be spared by this burning act, so that they allow their future generations to shine.

Only when one of the generations prevents itself from participating in this act of burning, do the future generations stop shining. And we all know dark ages are not good. So, let us stop manufacturing dark ages if we are not to disappear in the black hole of time, where there shall be no trace of human species left in this never dying universe. Because it is a multiverse where what appears to have ended, only begins somewhere else. Afterall, light does not cease traveling. And for it to be able to travel endlessly God or Universe always creates new universes and new mediums. Let us travel there and travel with the light!

But always with the light of our patron Gods in our hearts to show us the path of light and guide us unto the star system waiting for us to lay our claim on it.

I am ready to embark on this unknown but exciting journey, are you?

I have already journeyed into this future via my science fiction novel, They Loved in 2075. It may prove to be a great source of inspiration for anybody who wants to take on this journey of responsibility and show the will to burn a bit in order to shine a lot!
