Best selling science fiction books. The game of words

It is a well known fact that some people carry their hearts in their heads very many carry their heads in their hearts. The difficulty is to keep them apart, and yet both actively working together.

I am not very sure who said this, but whoever said it knew everything about life. Without knowing every detail about life it would have been impossible to come up with something as sharp witted as these words.

And if we examine these words very carefully, they apply to best selling #sciencefiction books with an undeniable aptness. Because these words do not cavil the actual facts of life.

And the essence of these well thought words applies to science fiction books. In the sense that the #scifi author has to carry the scientific aspect of the story in his/her head, while bearing the fiction part of the story in his/her heart. And when the scifi author embarks on the writing expedition, he/she very intently has to keep fiction and science apart, yet both have to actively work together and exist together as well. Because if they do not, the fiction will lose its scientific flavour that is central to every best selling scifi book. As a result of this artistic delinquency the #scifi book will be just another book, a book that everyone looks at but nobody wants to read.

So, the scifi author may be able to achieve this balance, but that is not all. Now the scifi author has to work on the main part of the scifi book, that will decide whether it will be just an ordinary #scifi book or it will be the best selling scifi book. And this difference is made by choosing the right words.

When it comes to #scifi, the choice of words ought to meet two main demands: satisfy the artistic requirement of the story without letting any scifi reader feel that his/her artistic thirst was scarcely quenched. And at the same time the author has to use words that do not supplant the need to explain scientific concepts or logics, they should blend with the artistic quotient of the story; without letting the main scientific concept being subjected to artistic and scientific paucity via inapt choice of words.

Words just like looks should be able to make a grand first impression, and it does not have to be a one time, first grand impression. But as the reader turns the pages of the book, the words should be able to generate a continuous chain of grand impressions with every new page. In the best selling #scifibooks every word, especially those words that the scifi author uses as attention grabbing baits, should be greater and larger  than the exciting cause of the paragraph or line they are a part of.

Because eventually every word in the best selling scifi book should be used keeping in mind the main theme of the #scifi story. And every word should aim at fulfilling this excitement in appropriate doses, so much so that the reader, who is going through these words, feels like taking sips of well aged wine, that he/she finds so exciting and delectable that he/she keeps sipping until he/she is not completely drunk. In this case, drunk with the excitement and curiosity that the scifi story builds via every word.

If the words used in scifi book are able to fulfil this purpose, then the scifi book, is on its way to becoming the best selling science fiction book.

Therefore, the words used in #scifibooks should focus less on expressing a thought, and focus more on expressing feelings. Because thought is deep, but feelings are deeper. And if a scifi book has to create a lasting and deeper impression on the scifi readers, then the author should choose words that express feelings and not just thoughts. For one basic reason: Thoughts are expressed via speech, but feelings are expressed via a perfect mutation between speech and all five senses. If a scifi author can accomplish this level of finesse when it comes to the use of words, he/she turns them into clearsighted expressions of his/her imagination that the scifi reader can easily understand. Thereby increasing his/her interest in the #scifi story. Because these words enriched with feelings prevent the scifi reader from falling into the ditches of preposterously conceived imagination, which mostly derives its feed of thoughts from logic that is high on self proposed conviction, with a mounting deficit of general logical credibility.

Choosing words for a best selling science fiction book, is like fashion. It cannot be too old nor can it be ultra modern to make it look mod. It has to be a mix of both: not so old and not mod at all! Because scifi readers have a vast demographic makeup. Where few readers like to interact with words that were used in 90s and few of the readers who belong to generation Z, prefer a vocabulary that they can relate with easily, and without making them feel like generational misfits.

Now this situation can lead to a bottleneck of preferences due to generational gaps. But the author of bestselling #scifi book knows how to overcome this bottleneck of preferences- By using words that meet the demands of all generations or all demographics.

A best selling scifi book should not be like a mirror that reflects the mind and imagination of the #scifi author, it should along with the author's mind and imagination also reflect the mind of global society. Without being able to project this reflection alongside his/her own reflections, ( Reflections of author’s  mind and imagination ) the scifi book will be doomed. It will be like an aeroplane that has perfect aerodynamics and the best turbo jet engines, but it is an aeroplane without wings.

And we all cannot deny that fools rush in where angels dread to tread. And only an unwise scifi author would rush to write a scifi story that only bears his/her mental and imaginative reflections, with complete denial of scifi reader’s imagination/s. If that happens no reader would appreciate the scifi book, because he/she would find the author’s imagination unable to create counterbalancing instances throughout the scifi story convincing the scifi reader that his/her imagination is travelling on the same tangent as that of the scifi author. There maybe few differences or opposing moments too, but that is natural. Generally, both imaginations will travel at the same pace and keep complimenting each other, in the form of assurances. That seek to tell the scifi reader that he/she is not a dumb or less proficient in understanding the scientific concept being proposed in the scifi story.

#Scifibooks that address this side of scifi story telling, will never lead to dull moments for the scifi readers.

It is due to this reason that a scifi book that was written a few centuries ago still finds relevance in 2023. Frankenstein!

Do you know why?

Because we all want to live forever. But then we all also are haunted by the ethical questions that come with immortality.

And Frankenstein’s monster, who in a way is immortal fascinates our imagination, but at the same time it also raises ethical questions about the sufferings of Frankenstein's monster. We all know the scifi story and I am sure you know what I mean.

There is one such science fiction book that invokes similar imagination and ethical questions about the complete take over of human societies by the self aware machines. This #scifi novel is titled, They Loved in 2075. And it achieves this with words that do not surprise the reader because the reader feels they are an expression of his/her own imagination.

Where a boy falls in love with a beautiful girl who is unable to emote like humans. The mechanical and synthetic orientation of her emotions turn her inadvertently indifferent towards genuine emotional expressions of love. As a result the boy who loves her deeply encounters emotional peaks where he feels miserable and devastated. And in 2075, many humans suffer from this emotional condition.

But the boy is unwilling to give up on her and the way he feels for her. To know whether the boy and the girl meet a fate similar to Frankenstein’s monster or they find retribution, and eventually save the world. Read the scifi novel, They Loved in 2075.

By the way, do you know the reason why lovers are never weary of one another? It is so because they find common happiness in each other. A feeling that dazzles them permanently and keeps them warm inwardly. And the boy feels the same for the girl, to know if the girl at all feels the same, please explore the scifi novel titled, They Loved in 2075!
