Best selling scifi books. Why read them?

Best selling scifi books. Why read them?

Science has always been, and it shall continue to be, the hope that we seek in the future. A reliable and predictable future. Science alone is able to organise human thought and blend it with human imagination in such a way that it reveals to the seeking mind, and an adept eye, the clearest view of the future. And by making it predictable science eliminates from the future every force that prevents us from knowing the reality that shall matter to all of us, because we will be a part of it in the future. Afterall, every moment of the present progresses into the future, and by making this future foreseeable, science becomes the only tool that launches humans into a mode, where they can act now to influence and manage many centuries in the future.

So, it can be said that science is what maps our present with the future. Without this map we will be lost in the future. Almost like an albatross, that is only able to flap its one wing. And human beings without science and scientific tools are nothing but a one winged albatross.

But, what is the role of best science fiction books; and in particular best selling science fiction books, when it comes to offering us this map of the future? A future that we can manage and control. Not that we want to enter into a state of anarchy, where we are obsessed with just one goal. To control time randomly based on our will. Not at all! Because anarchy in any form is not a good strategy to adopt as it halts every form of progress. Because it forces us to believe only in the present, thereby blocking our ability to prepare for the future.

Afterall, belief in the future life is the appetite of reason. Without this belief nothing would exist, except life, that shall be so trapped in the present that it will halt every form of progress. Because a life that has no belief in the future life will have no appetite for science. As science is all about good hopes, hope and future are inseparable. But if we do not believe in the future, the virtue of hope will be rendered ineffective and useless.

( Here future life does not correspond to life after death. It means our lives tomorrow. In the future. )

And this is where the best selling science fiction books are very special. First they make us believe in the future, and by including scientific wonders in this future, the best #scifi books of all time, offer us the reason to hope for a better tomorrow. And hope for a future where human life can thrive and progress, by investing in scientific thoughts where human perseverance is the only incumbent force. A force that has helped humanity to reach beyond the stars; and I am sure, it will be this force that will someday launch humans into the realm where Gods live. But in order to achieve scientific advancement at that scale we need to have a voracious appetite for reason. And to feed this voracious appetite of reason, there is nothing like best science fiction books of all time.

Maybe that is the reason many philosophers believe, “We are always looking to the future; the present does not satisfy us. Our ideal, whatever it may be, lies further on.”

And best science fiction books of all time are an ideal and an affordable means to venture further on; into the future, where the universe has hidden those secrets that shall teach us the ways to access the realm of the Gods. And when humans achieve this milestone, it is then we shall be able to control the future with 100% perfection. Because we will have attained the absolute knowledge of time. We would know exactly how it gets created, how it then impacts the present, before moving into the future, until in that future, it ends at a certain point. Especially for civilisations who are able to satiate the voracious appetite of reason. It is then that for these civilisations there is no need for time, because for them everything exists and grows in the present. For they master the art of predicting the future with error free accuracy. If the great civilisations like : The Sumer, The Harappa, The Maya; and many other ancient civilisations had been able to master this art, they would have been able to avoid their sudden decline that eventually led to their extinction.

And there is only one reason I embrace this theory. At this stage a civilisation tends to master the art of correctly predicting the possibilities and realities of the future. Which is an imagination of the scientific mind, that never wanders away from logic and reason. When a civilisation is able to accomplish this scientific milestone, it becomes resilient to outlive the snares of time.

And this is what makes Gods in the highest realm so special. They always live in the present. For them the future does not exist, because their present is a construction of scientific reasoning that can easily predict all possibilities of tomorrow, even the next moment of their lives. And when this happens, time becomes irrelevant. In this case too, best selling science fiction books play a vital role; and best science fiction authors shoulder the responsibility of enhancing this God like positivism further. Where, with the help of scientific tools one can easily manage the future, and avoid meeting a fate similar to once great civilisations, that were ravaged by the forces of time and erased from the face of reality i.e. present, forever!

But when we invest in this future where we become its masters, let us be warned that “age and sorrow have the gift of reading the future by the past.” And here too best selling science fiction books offer us the ideal tool to assess the future by employing references from the past. Because if a science fiction book is published on the topic that reads : The world in 2075. And you are reading this book in the year 2023, it certainly is about the future. But it has been authored in 2023 in the midst of existing scientific realities that influence the scientific probabilities of tomorrow. And not indirectly but very directly. So, hasn't this #sciencefiction novel served the purpose of portraying the realities of the future, by utilising the knowledge of the past and the present as well? Yes, it has! Therefore, every best selling science fiction book offers us the gift of reading the future by the past and present as well. And this is what makes the best #scifibooks of all time relevant in any future and for any generation.

Every science fiction book reader is a person who believes in the future because he/she possesses the appetite for reason. But, when one develops this appetite for reason, one is bound to become very curious. And when a science fiction book reader becomes too curious. He/she may become too curious about asking questions, and as a consequence of this excessive curiosity, this person will ignore the instructions that he/she should focus more on if he/she is to locate the reality that would influence his/her future, and the future of his/her society as whole. It is only via well researched and well thought instructions that we can manage the future without overwhelming our present.

And in this case too, best selling books, especially #scifibooks, excel a lot. Because they offer us insight into the scientific possibilities and also provide us with the right instructions to manage the future via well thought scientific ideas. Take for example the very famous science fiction book, The Martian. The concepts highlighted in this best selling science fiction book are brave and innovative. And today, in 2023, we are making plans to colonise Mars and become Martians. Because many of us were influenced by the appeal of the scientific possibilities expressed in the best selling science fiction book, The Martian.

Moreover, someone once said, “cleverness and cunning are incompatible. I never saw them united. The latter is the resource of the weak, and is only natural to them. Children and fools are always cunning, but clever people never.” By the way you cannot challenge this thought because it is from one of the giants in English literature. The great Lord Byron himself!

Who was Lord Byron?

But why am I referring to his quote?

There is a reason. Best selling #sciencefiction books are not written by children. That is one reason. And as they abound in scientific inventiveness ( Take for example the concepts in the #scifibooks: The Martian, Time Machine etc. ) they certainly are not written by fools.

And here is the most important point of all. Best selling science fiction books are not read by fools. Never!

So, science fiction books offer a very clever take on the scientific possibilities of the future, and in no way do they offer cunning scientific thoughts. This quality makes them extremely unique and this makes best selling #scifi authors of all time, the cleverest men and women of all time. And I believe one always learns from clever people and not from cunning people.

Please do not forget your kindergarten story of a crow with a piece of cheese in its beak, and how a clever fox manages to take that piece of cheese from the crow that was perched on the highest branch of the tree. And when it comes to best selling scifi authors of all time they definitely help humans and the global scientific community, to grab that moment of crowning glory from the Gods, who think it is theirs to claim and nobody else's.

Do you still think it is not worth reading best selling #scifibooks? Ah, now you should have every reason to read the best selling scifi books . At least for the sake of scientific cleverness you should!

But, there are a few of us who prefer to know more details in order to believe in the concept that still exists in theory, and has not been proven yet. So, let me attempt to establish my claim further.

Spanish people are extremely brave. I think they are very brave. Because they have been great explorers, and they could dare the vastness and unpredictability of the tempestuous seas and oceans; and explore new lands. History will always give them this credit. Had the Spanish not been so brave, the world may still not have reached the stage of advancement it has reached today.

However, the sea can be rough and unpredictable, but you have something solid, something that you can see, feel and touch, to deal with. The sea. For a moment let us forget about its roughness and unpredictable nature. And only focus on the fact that the sea is something that exists physically.

But the scientific future is unlike this sea. You cannot touch anything, you cannot feel anything, you solely depend on your knowledge and cleverness to launch your ship of imagination into this vast sea of future, and seek the reality that lies somewhere there. Even less noticeable, unfelt, unseen, and you have to seek it. It is like imagination chasing a phantom and then dragging it into reality, and casting its reflection in the mirror of reality. Oh my God, isn't that the bravest act of all. I think it is, and this is the reason best selling #scifibooks and best selling scifi authors are the cleverest people and we should offer them the credit they deserve.

If the Spanish take the credit of connecting the world and uniting it in some sense, especially as a human race. Although we may have individual differences and contradictions, as a human race. One cannot deny they certainly connected us as a race of humans. Then the best selling science fiction authors of all time are the Spanish explorers of the scientific future!

We cannot overlook the fact that the science fiction authors connect the global community of scientists, and the global community of #sciencefiction readers with the universe of unexplored, unknown, but reasoning based scientific possibilities. Because they are the fearless explorers of the future scientific world. Where they set sail in the boat of the present, bearing two masts. Where one of the masts represents the  past and the other one represents the past and present knowledge. And with the help of this boat they often derive the reality from the future, that will influence our present in that future.

Would you still say best selling #scifibooks are just a work of fiction with no reality in them?

While you are trying to arrive at a conclusion. Let me defend my claim further, because right now I am the litigant in the court of reality where I am trying to defend the community that predicts the future and seeks 100% accuracy in doing so. At least that is their goal. And to avoid intellectual logjam, I will try to present more arguments in this direction.

Let me quote Cicero, “Cultivation to the mind is as necessary as food to the body.”

And when it comes to scientific thinking, and in particular futuristic scientific thinking, having a cultivated mind is very important. And in this vocation too best selling #scifi books play a critical part. Because they help us cultivate a scientific mind by sowing in it the seeds of clever scientific imagination, that when woven with scientific reasoning, can sometimes lead to scientific ideas that have the potential to be the cause of scientific renaissance in that discipline. They make you a highbrow in the scientific community, and through you they become the hope of the future that our present feeds on, in order to achieve what only relentless scientific dreams can accomplish.

A well written and best selling scifi book offers you the scientific dream to occupy your scientific mind, in the reality of present scientific advancements. And when you accomplish this, it makes you a titan of science. Because you now have the power to transform dreams into reality.

As a concluding argument I have this to say, “When real nobleness accompanies the imaginary one of birth, the imaginary seems to mix with the real and become real too!”

And every best selling #scifi book may be based on a scientific imagination, but with noble scientific pursuit it can become real too. I shall let you decide the rest!

To help you decide better, I recommend that you first read the science fiction novel, They Loved in 2075. It is a romance science fiction novel, and it offers many scientific ideas which can become real too. And very real!

At least the social fears that it talks about are already defining our lives in 2023, and if we pay no heed to them now, it is possible that in 2075, they will grow into an emotional pandemic. And at that stage, we will be nothing more than and nothing less than zombies. That word Zombies does not mean men and women who kill other humans and feed on them. It means men and women who cannot feel. Because a person who cannot feel, can easily feed on another human. But a person who can feel, can never resort to such an act. Never even in his/her diabolic imagination!

So, how can we avoid being emotional zombies? Please read the #scifi novel, They Loved in 2075.

Feeling does not grow or feel stronger by waiting, it becomes stronger and it grows, by using it. So, if you feel something, express it and use it. Only then humans stand a chance in 2075.

Otherwise, let us prepare for the reign of the zombies. And in that reign, cleverness shall be replaced by cunningness. Whose side will you be on? I will always side with the clever and sympathetic, not with the clever who is cunning, or cleverness that is cunning. I am sure you got my point!

For all other answers, the #sciencefiction novel, They Loved in 2075, is the ideal gospel on the degrading emotional world that will be a reality in 2075.

Hopefully our future generation will not have to deal with these demons of the future. It is only possible, if the present generation of men and women deal with them now!

Dedicated to hope that always resides in the future!
