Best selling science fiction books. Last pages

The goal of every #scifi author is simple. To tell a story that he/she believes in with his/her mind and heart as well. Since scifi stories are part science and part fiction, that is why, these stories reveal the scifi author’s thoughts formed in his/her mind, always bearing a feeling of his/her heart too.

And not all scifi authors are able to tell scifi stories with such eloquence that even a tepid scifi reader feels the rush of scifi adventure. And unfailingly begins to believe in the scifi story and its every character. With so much fervour that he/she can barely hold a breath before knowing the next excitement that awaits him/her. Finally when the scifi reader has felt every excitement of the scifi book, he/she reaches the point where he/she would now get to experience the concluding excitement- The crescendo of all excitements. And at this juncture two possibilities arise, and they alone decide whether the scifi book will be a best selling scifi book or just an ordinary scifi book.

First possibility:

The scifi reader will relive the complete spectrum of climaxes and surprises this scifi book had to offer, in this final moment of #scifi excitement. And then believe with a smile it was worth the time invested to read it fully.

Second possibility:

The scifi reader will not feel anything special in this final moment of scifi excitement; and it will fail to create a complete recapitulation of all excitements that the scifi book had made him/her feel during his her process of interacting with its pages. In this case the scifi reader will close the scifi book, and proceed to undertake other chores of life. And then completely forget about the scifi excitement this scifi book had created for him/her.

So, whenever a scifi reader is dealing with the final excitement that the scifi book has to offer; if his/her mind feels dominated by second possibility, then the scifi book will not be able to become the best selling scifi book.

However, if the scifi reader’s mind leans more towards the first possibility, then the scifi book is meant to be the best selling scifi book.

And this is where the scifi authors’ true predicament lies. No matter how astute or experienced the scifi author may be, it takes a lot of professional finesse and a heightened imagination that helps the scifi author to write a scifi book where every moment of scifi excitement finds that final moment of culmination, in the form of final excitement. That the scifi author has cleverly, but with benignity placed in the last pages of the scifi book. 

With the objective of making the story of the #scifibook unforgettable. And when a scifi book becomes unforgettable; it is on its way to becoming the best selling scifi book.

But, how does a scifi author create or develop this final excitement that bears the essence of every excitement that the scifi book had offered the scifi reader until he/she arrived at the gateway of this final excitement? 

And achieving it is very important if the #scifibook has to become the best selling scifi book. Because without it the scifi book will be easily forgotten- Forgotten as if the scifi reader had never read it or felt any scifi excitement via it.

There cannot be anything more dejecting and intellectually depreciating for the scifi author. A scifi book that is read and then forgotten, is like a pebble that gets tossed in the infinite sea of scifi reader’s memories. The pebble will have no significant existence in this sea. Had the scifi book been able to create that last moment of heightened excitement, it would have emerged as a huge island in this infinite sea of scifi reader’s memories. And it would then have always reminded him/her of the scifi book and through it of the scifi author as well.

So how does one make his/her scifi book unforgettable with a string of excitements that the scifi reader always feels excited about; just by a mere thought of the scifi genre. Long after he/she has read the book?

One thing is certain, the final moment of excitement that the scifi book creates for the scifi reader should permanently reside in his/her mind. With such profoundness that whenever he/she hears the word science or fiction, this final excitement causes a chain explosion of all excitements that the best #scifibook had created for him/her.

Now coming to the main question. What should the scifi author do in order to create such a moment of final excitement?

Here is what I feel should be done in order to attain this perfect moment of final scifi excitement, which the scifi readers can never disassociate from. I may be wrong in my thinking, and the application of this theory may vary among #scifi authors. But when it comes to ideating on something good and something helpful, I am the last one to sulk or remain silent.

Therefore, staying true to my nature here is what I think might work when it comes to creating that perfect and unforgettable, final moment of scifi excitement.

Now, every scifi book has following elements:

• A central plot

• A central science based idea

• A fiction based world

• Characters

• Few main characters

• The protagonist 

• A villain ( if any )

• Few moments of climax

• Few moments of scientific and logical surprises

• And every scifi story bears a feeling. A single feeling of love or sympathy or inspiration or enthusiasm etc. Which grows and becomes clearer as the story advances into its concluding phase

Here is my theory on achieving that perfect moment of final excitement in a scifi book.

In the last pages of the scifi book, the scifi author should always be able to refer to the central plot, then within it adjust the main, science based idea, that was so far being propelled via the central plot. And then both the central plot and the primary science based idea that rests within it, should be able to create an overview of the fiction based world.

As the scifi author defines this part of the #scifibook, now he/she should mention about the main character, the protagonist or the character with whom most of the scifi readers are supposed to relate with or sympathise with. And offer this character the personality that every scifi reader can find easy to associate with. By making them feel they are this character. And at this stage when the #scifi reader is now feeling like this character, the scifi author should create a peaking moment of anticlimax by mentioning about the villain. ( if there is any ) And also offer a general flavour of normal life and its tribulations to it. By briefly explaining, how hideous forces in the general world always influence our realities, and in this case that of the scifi character with whom the scifi readers are beginning to sympathise or associate with.

When this happens the scifi reader will witness an emotional surge that flows into his/her mind and heart at the same time. And if it happens, this emotional surge will develop into a strong memory in the scifi reader’s mind. That would therefore prevent the scifi book from getting reduced to a pebble tossed into the infinite sea of #scifi reader’s memories.

With  this accomplished.

The scifi author needs to add a twist to the entire summary. Which can be an emotional twist or adding a completely new direction to the main plot. Something that would startle the scifi reader. It will strengthen the emotional memory already formed in the scifi reader’s mind.

Finally, whatever feeling this entire scifi book was able to create, the scifi author should specify it with the right words that express the true depth of this feeling.

If a scifi author can do this, he/she will be able to create that final moment of scifi excitement that the scifi reader will never forget. And the mere mention of the words science or fiction, will always activate this excitement and via it he/she will always be reminded of the scifi book. Because it will be lying in the vast sea of his/her memories like a conspicuous island.

Now do you still think, a scifi book that can achieve this will not be the best selling scifi book?
