Science fiction books are like the journeys of a human mind into the world of imagination. That lies surrounded by the realism of head strong logical proponents existing in the form of all theories and hypothesis that usually exist around the topic or idea being expressed via a #scifibook. 

It may sound confusing that a hypothesis or a theory has already been proposed by someone around the scope of ideas covered by the scifi author’s imagination. However, this confusion has no means to sustain itself because a part of every human imagination is in one way or another covered by some old or already existing theory or hypothesis. But it does not mean that the originality of a scifi author’s imagination is diluted. It only proves one fact, that his/her imagination is credible enough to withstand any test of reality because his/her imagination dives into the depths of logical realities; and from their it retrieves sources of inspiration to form the outline of his/her imagination, that forms the basis of his/her “best selling scifibook.”

Best selling because the #scifibook bears no aspect that may appear conduit to the scifi readers, since it draws its inspiration from logic based realities. Where it may appear that a theory or hypothesis around the same idea preexist; but it only goes to prove that the scifi author’s imagination is deriving its inspiration from provable scientific ideas.

But how many such scifibooks do we come across in our lifetime where we feel that the imagination of the scifi author does not distance itself from the rationalism. I would say not many, because scifi related imagination is not like any other form of imagination.

It imagines plausible possibilities, by eliminating from them every element that may corrupt the logical foundation of the main imagination which forms the ideological precept of the #scifibook. However, this elimination process is not easy, had it been easy, then all scifibooks would have been the best selling scifibooks. But it is not so, not at all!

Wondering why!

Because all scifi authors do not indulge in imagination that never leaves the proximity of reasoning. Scifi related imagination, just like any form of imagination can often get diverted towards more of musings and less of reasoning centric imagination. And realising these diversion points and then devising an artistic subversion that realigns the scifi imagination on the track of reasoning, is what distinguishes a well written #scifibook from just an ordinary scifi book.

Scifi authors are like lovers, who are in love with scientific imaginations. They possess this unique ability to think of scientific possibilities that very few people can ascertain as scientific marvels of tomorrow. It is this forthright and inviolable capacity of few scifi authors that enables them to express highly innovative ideas in their #scifibooks that most of the scifi readers find profoundly motivating and for many reasons inalienable. And when the #scifi readers fall in love with the scifibook’s imaginative flow, the scifi book transforms into a literary romantic phenomenon that no scifi reader can find a way to resist. Because it appeals to their own side of pragmatic imaginations, making them fall in love with it. Only that in this case the love affair deepens at the speed of one page at a time.

By the time the scifi reader has arrived on the last page he/she has already surrendered all his/her romantic instincts to the imagination of scifibook. And just like two lovers can go to any extent to be with each other, in this case the scifi readers would do anything to first complete reading the #scifi book and then never forget about the way it made them feel- Lovers of science and reasoning. 

Now, what can prevent such a scifibook from becoming the best selling scifibook. I think nothing at all! Because the words printed on the pages of the scifibooks always manage to form a virtually printed copy of the #scifibook in the minds of the scifi readers. 

Thereby rendering the scifibook timeless because it influenced the scifi reader’s impressionable regions- The impressionable regions of scifi reader’s mind. Now it no longer exists as a book placed somewhere on a shelf, but it exists in the mind of the scifi reader, where he/she can reach it from anywhere and anytime. And it is this fact that makes it the best selling scifibook. Because these scifi readers become its dedicated, but most interesting part being, they become its conscious promoters.

What can stop the growth and popularity of such a scifibook. I guess nothing. Because when a scifibook enjoys so much love from scifi readers it transforms into a sun, and for beings living on Earth, sun does not need any promotion. Its every ray becomes a tool of its advertisement, and as such, no matter where you are on the planet earth, you look up towards the sky, and the sun is there. An omnipresent billboard that cannot be missed by anyone. And there are a few scifibooks that in the scifi world/genre enjoy the status similar to this omnipresent billboard. That keeps attracting more and more scifi readers towards it.

For every scifi reader this list of amazing scifibooks is very limited. It may not be more than 4 to 6 scifibooks for each scifi reader. And it is not any different for me either. My list of favourite #scifibooks is limited to just 4.

• Frankenstein

• Dune

• Time Machine

• Invisible Man

Did you even realise that I have already proven what I claimed above. “That the scifi readers become the ardent promoters of their favourite #scifibooks.” 

I am sure you did. Because I consciously promoted 4 scifibooks without any inhibition. I mentioned them in this blog post, because my love affair with scifi genre was initiated by these books. 

Although I have read other scifibooks too, these 4 scifibooks have left an indelible mark on my mind. These scifibooks have the power to make the scifi readers think in their style. At times to such an extent that their imagination, deeply rooted in reasoning, overrides the scifi reader’s imagination with an inexplicable ease that leaves the scifi reader to helplessly but lovingly fall in love with their scifi imagination. 

Moreover, these scifi books do not only deal with science and science centric eventualities, effects and causes based outcomes or discourses. But, these scifibooks, also carry a strong social and humanity centric message. They make a very deliberate and strong effort to help the scifi readers abstain from the pernicious influence of #sciencefiction. Because science fiction books due to their science and logic driven story line can sound mechanical in their construction. And a scifibook that mostly relies on science and logical arguments would naturally tend to ignore human emotions and the fact that humans live in societies. When a scifi reader deals with such a scifi plot, he/she can be a victim of its pernicious narration or should I say, a scifi story that originates from the mind without consulting the heart. Such a #scifibook would only give rise to a heartless mind or a mindless heart. Both are dangerous; and the 4 #scifibooks specified by me above make generous efforts to keep the scifi readers away from these trappings of scifi genre. 

PS. All genres have their own trappings that only the gifted and brilliantly talented authors realise and then deliberately avoid.

For me this is the primary and only reason these 4 #scifibooks always stand out as inimitable masterpieces of scifi genre. And these scifibooks strengthen my belief that human imagination is the only known force that can travel faster than light, because it travels faster than time- It reaches there where time has not reached yet.

If it were not so, how could someone more than a century ago think of a human creation like Franenstein’s Monster, how could someone think of traveling through time and also fiddle with a concept as complex as invisibility, that too so many decades ago? These scifibooks are the time attested stamps that prove human imagination can travel faster than light, because it always travels ahead of time. At least, that is the case when it comes to these scifibooks.

There is one such scifi book that travels faster than time and proves it as well. It is titled, They Loved in 2075. This #scifibook is a romance scifibook. That  attempts to understand how human emotions will evolve in the future when humans will be interacting with self aware machines. Because humans develop feelings and emotions based on their day to day interactions, and when humans will be interacting excessively with self aware machines, their emotions are bound to evolve and gradually become mechanical. With a synthetic layer of emotions.

Yet, the scifibook, They Loved in 2075, is a romance scifi where a boy falls in love with a beautiful girl who is unable to emote like humans. Is this even possible? And if the girl is unable to emote like humans will she even feel the emotional depth of the boy’s love for her?

And it is not only about romance. It has more to it. It is about highly advanced technologies that would be a reality in 2075. It is about how few people want to control the entire universe and how they are met with resistance from the boy’s clan and the girl’s clan as well. It paints an almost realistic picture of the world that would exist in 2075, with an emotional depth similar to that of the famous scifibook, Frankenstein.

I am sure you will find it interesting, but more than that you will find it deeply rooted in logical reasoning and romance that seeks to find its new meaning and new sensation in the hearts and minds of the humans that would exist in 2075.

Intelligence is the greatest mental asset humans have been refining for millions of years, it has always led us towards progress and greatness. But sometimes when you are at the highest point, the end point, taking a pause and looking back becomes more important than creating new peaks to ascend.

And with AI and Quantum computing a reality now, humanity has arrived at the peak of technological intelligence. It is an epoch setting moment, and before we choose the new direction and a new height as well, we should ponder on important aspects of AI and Quantum computing. Especially how will their proliferation into human societies redefine the social makeup of human societies and more than that how will it lead to the evolution of human emotions.

Well, nobody would like the fact that his/her partner feels emotionally more reliant on a self aware machine than a human being. And a self aware machine can do it easily. All it has to do is study the behavioural patterns of an individual and then via its algorithm it will initiate conversations and even express emotions, that the person being studied by the self aware machine would find irresistibly seductive and emotionally more inclined towards. Because the self aware machine has learned to exploit his/her emotional need. And when that happens humans will have entered a new age of war: war of emotions and feelings. Where humans will be failing to emote like humans, and as a consequence they will tend to relate better with machines to recover their emotional deficits. 

But the unchanged and most dominant fact being, and it shall always be so; that without technology humans are nothing, with technology we can claim anything we imagine. But today, when AI and quantum computing is at its best, thinking with all our seriousness and highest form of refined human intelligence is more important than ever. Because we are at the peak of technological intelligence where we ought to think about what we want to imagine next. So that it would make humans truly an invincible species, without forcing them to be machines or machine like!

If we fail to do so now, the realities depicted in the scifibook, They Loved in 2075, will be a reality our future generations will be left grappling with. And then no form of human intelligence will be sufficient to save humanity from becoming emotionally numb! And at that stage only one rule shall apply, “welcome to the jungle!”
