Best selling science fiction books. Their Reality of Polarities

Best selling science fiction books. Their Reality of Polarities

In scifibooks every new concept comes with twin possibilities. That the concept is either too deeply rooted in reality and logical sensibility or it blends partly with reality and partly with fantasy. But to a scifi reader both appear credulous because he/she has established an inalienable fondness for the scifi author that makes him/her trust the scifi author’s credibility when it comes to introducing new concepts to his/her strong base of scifi readers via his/her #scifibook.

But isn't being too credulous a dangerous thing because one would easily end up believing everything and almost anything? And when that happens a scifi reader would end up believing unrealistic possibilities which cannot sustain any logical test. Ultimately driving the scifi reader away from the reality and placing him/her in the #scifi world that actually is ruled by fantasy, and nothing else.

I am aware that there are fantasy #scifibooks as well, but for this blog post my major focus is how and why a scifi reader becomes credulous when it comes to science that is being promoted or narrated via a fiction based plot. That too when both suffer from an unavoidable and a very dominant polarity.

Science rests on the pole of reality and it seeks proof of concept, whatever one might propose. But fiction on other hand is meant to create something out of nothing without having to worry about logical grounds that it obliterates, both, advertently and inadvertently as well.

With #scifibooks being subject to this easily distinguishable polarity, all scifi readers adorn them without any objection, and least of all, any sort of hesitation. The appeal of scifi is not endemic in nature, it possesses a pandemic like effect when it comes to its mass appeal. That is why best selling #scifibooks gain global popularity. And any scifibook that is a global bestseller, one fact is always synonymous with its global acceptance. That fact being the credulity of global scifi readers. Who easily and unchallengingly believe in science that is conceived by the womb of fiction.

Why do these scifi readers never get caught in the polarity of scifi books? Where science, that rests on the pole of reality and logic, is accompanied by the pole of fiction where reality is as unreal as it can possibly get. Yet, the #scifi readers ignore this fact and allow the #scifibook to redefine their thoughts. What is going on?

Let us take a detour of thought, then we maybe able to understand it better.

When you light a matchstick, it burns with a small flame at its tip. And we simply credit the process of lighting the matchstick to the striking surface of the matchbox  covered with red phosphorus and the striking tip of the matchstick covered with potassium chlorate. For most of us, this is what makes the tip of the matchstick light up/burn with a flame.

And the process of the matchstick lighting up is called combustion. Though not much, but, it does produce heat. Which means combustion generates heat.

So far for the scientist who believes only in reality and proof based interactions; and the scifi reader who believes in reality and fiction as well, everything is easy to understand and both are credulous observers. That is until this point.

But there is something that neither the scientist nor the scifi reader are able to see. Something that supports the process of combustion; and in its absence, even if we strike potassium carbonate bearing match-stick against the red phosphorus containing striking surface of the matchbox, the matchstick will not light up. It will not catch fire.

The reaction will fail to generate the expected output.

And the unseen catalyst of this reaction is oxygen. Without oxygen, the reaction will not produce the expected outcome.

But, the scientist and the #scifi reader are aware of this fact. So, even when they do not see oxygen, they still accept its presence and are not surprised when the match stick lights up.

Now, if this reaction were to take place in a glass chamber with no oxygen in it, the matchstick should not catch fire. And if it somehow does, now the scientists and scifi reader as well will not be credulous, they will become sceptical and ask questions.

It is similar when it comes to #scifibooks as well.

The scifi authors never light up a matchstick in a chamber where there is no oxygen. Instead they do it in presence of oxygen and make the scifi readers aware of its presence too. And it is in the case of these scifi books that the scifi readers execute the highest form of credulity, and it is these scifi books that become the best selling scifi books.

Whereas #scifibooks that light up match-sticks, that too one after another, in vacuum, where there is not even trace of oxygen, all scifi readers do not adopt the credulous mode, only a few, let us say 10% of them believe in it and somehow manage to read the scifi book. But these scifibooks, desperately trying to light matchsticks in vacuum do not become the best selling scifibooks.

This now answers the main question.

Best selling scifibooks, like all scifi books do manage to make the scifi readers overlook the polarity that exists between science and fiction, by only introducing concepts, which are similar to lighting matchsticks in presence of oxygen.

Whereas the scifi books, that try to convince the scifi reader that lighting match-sticks in vacuum can be achieved, become victims of this polarity between science and fiction, and that is why they only receive the support of 10% or even less percentage of scifi readers.

A scifi author cannot afford to be imprecise, and alienation from scientific facts will be like shooting an arrow that is bound to return and shoot the bowman. And that is why few scifi books never make it to the best selling list of #scifibooks. Because they attempt lighting match-sticks in vacuum.

Best selling #scifibooks address the polarity between science and fiction with a diligent effort and without creating any scientific scenario that will become improvident in the future, with the advancement in science and technology. Here too few scifi authors act with extreme prudence and even if they attempt to light a match-stick in vacuum, they carry few atoms of oxygen with them. Just enough to create that spark if not a huge flame- The spark of reality that is confidently riding the unseen stead of the future. And who would not like to take a ride alongside the future, while seated in reality! And that is what best selling #scifibooks achieve via their exceptionally talented authors.

There is one #scifibook that achieves something similar. It cancels the polarity between science and fiction via a beautifully told romance #scifi story, and this scifibook is titled, They Loved in 2075.

But when it comes to this scifibook there are not just two polarities, there are many polarities.

Namely:

  • Obviously, Reality

  • Obviously, Fiction

  • Human Like Emotions Expressed by Self Aware Machines

  • A Love Affair

  • A Girl Who Cannot Emote

  • A Boy Who Desperately Loves This Girl And is Able to Emote Like Humans

  • Three Clans

  • Neural Connections Via Quantum Links

  • Human Emotions

  • Highly Advanced Machines

  • Intelligent War Machines

  • A Dying Earth

In presence of so many polarities, They Loved in 2075, manages to be a romance filled #scifibook. Now how is that possible?

To know, and introduce yourselves to new dimension of polarities in #scifi genre, which are brilliantly mapped with reality that would exist in 2075; when self aware machines will be everywhere. Please read the romance #scifibook titled: They Loved in 2075.
